As cherry blossom season returns to the Pacific Northwest, I’m reminded why it’s one of my favorite times of year to photograph. The soft pink petals fluttering in the breeze turn even the simplest scene into something magical, perfect for senior portraits, couples, maternity sessions, and family photos alike.

Every spring, I make it my mission to scout Seattle’s best cherry blossom locations, from iconic parks to hidden neighborhood gems. Below, I’m sharing some of my favorite cherry blossom photo spots around Seattle and the Puget Sound area that will make your session unforgettable.

(Updated for Spring 2026. Peak bloom in Seattle typically happens in late March to early April!)

🌸 Seward Park - Lake Views & Timeless Beauty

Nestled along Lake Washington, Seward Park has everything: towering cherry trees, peaceful trails, and stunning water views. It’s one of my go-to locations for golden hour portraits and Seattle family photos.

During one of my scouting trips, I happened upon the Cherry Blossom Run and got to see the park buzzing with color and energy. A couple of weeks later, I photographed a couples’ session there, the pink blooms reflected beautifully against the lake, creating soft, romantic tones.

🌸 Ferdinand Street Hand Carry Boat Launch

Just down Lake Washington Boulevard from Seward Park, the Ferdinand Street Hand Carry Boat Launch is a hidden waterfront gem with even more gorgeous blossoms. It’s a great add-on location for couples or seniors who want variety in their gallery, soft trees, reflective water, and a touch of serenity.

I captured behind-the-scenes footage from this shoot, and it reminded me how even smaller cherry trees can create stunning compositions when framed just right.

🌸 The Washington Park Arboretum - Iconic Seattle Blossoms

When it comes to Seattle cherry blossom photos, the Arboretum is a classic for a reason. The wide paths, sprawling trees, and lush greenery make it ideal for spring portrait sessions, whether it’s a dreamy couple’s shoot or maternity session.

This location feels timeless, especially when the petals start to fall, creating that romantic, “snowing blossoms” effect photographers love. The Arboretum is spectacular in every season. For a summer look, check out this lifestyle shoot.

🌸 Bellevue Downtown Park - A Hidden Urban Oasis

One of my favorite Eastside discoveries is Bellevue Downtown Park, a springtime dream surrounded by cherry trees and manicured greenery. The even lighting here makes every shot glow.

I met my little cousins there for a fun family session, and it felt like we’d stepped right into a storybook, soft petals drifting in the sunlight and laughter filling the air. The photos we created together reminded me why spring family photography in Bellevue is always so joyful.

🌸 Steel Lake Park, Federal Way - Blossoms in Progress

A newer discovery: Steel Lake Park recently planted young cherry trees that are starting to bloom! While they’re still growing, it’s exciting to see another South King County location becoming a future cherry blossom favorite. I can’t wait to see how this park evolves over the next few years.

🌸 Random Blossoms Around Puget Sound

Some of my favorite finds aren’t official parks at all. They’re neighborhood sidewalks, schoolyards, and lakeside corners bursting with blooms. From Des Moines to Tacoma, cherry blossoms surprise you when you least expect them.

I always tell clients to keep an eye out near home, you never know when the perfect pink tree might become your next photo backdrop!

Why Cherry Blossoms Are a Photographer’s Dream

Cherry blossoms are pure magic behind the lens. Their pastel pink tones add instant romance, texture, and softness to portraits, perfect for capturing the essence of spring photography in Seattle.

They bring a light, airy quality to senior portraits, a serene glow to maternity sessions, and a touch of whimsy to couple and family shoots. For me, it’s not just about the photos; it’s the feeling of renewal and joy this season brings to everyone I photograph.
